The Queen of the North has spoken. Ann Michael Maye, wife of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, has broken her silence after the Patriots’ 29-13 Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, February 8.
“Not how we wanted it to end but still thanking God for this incredible season❤️,” Ann Michael, 22, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, February 11. “We are blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing group of people, who made this season what it was. This is only the beginning!!”
Her caption came alongside a carousel of photos from the Super Bowl, including one of her giving Drake, 23, a kiss on the field before the game.
Despite throwing for 295 yards in the Super Bowl, Drake had an uneven game. He connected on two touchdown passes but also threw a pair of interceptions and was sacked six times. The bulk of his numbers came in the fourth quarter when New England already faced long odds to stage a comeback.
Drake held back tears in his postgame press conference where he said that even in a losing effort, he is “so proud” of his team.
“That’s probably the reason I’m choked up most,” he said. “This team is something that I’m just glad to be part of.”
Drake added, “I’m just glad to have this uniform on and looking forward to getting back and play [in] another one.”
Continuing to reflect on what the team means to him, Drake noted that it was “hard” to compare the Super Bowl with a regular season game.
“It’s a business at this level, but it’s more than that,” he explained. “It’s more than that in a game like this and that’s about it. It’s more than a business. There’s people in there that are doing it, not for the money or fame and that’s what’s cool about this team.”
Drake led his team to the Super Bowl in only his second professional season. As the first quarterback to bring New England to the brink of a championship since Tom Brady, he has naturally drawn comparisons to the seven-time champion.
While some may find it unfair to compare a young player to one of the greatest to ever play the game, NFL reporter Kay Adams told Us Weekly before the Super Bowl there’s justification to draw those parallels.
“What [Drake] has done through this postseason run comps to Tom Brady’s beginning of his career,” she said. “I like that he’s getting all of the stick about it. ‘He doesn’t have the passing numbers, he doesn’t have —’ he is off to a brilliant start to his career in a rebuilding year where they were not supposed to be there.”
Adams, 39, also explained that Drake has set himself up to be one of the faces of the NFL for years to come.
“Yes, [he has] staying power, no question,” she said. “One of the young faces of our league heading into 2026, no matter what happens on Sunday.”
She added, “Drake is a beautiful story this year as well. I’ve met him several times. He’s a dialed-in guy, but he can have a laugh. He is generous with his time. I can tell you that. He lets his wife have the spotlight, who wouldn’t love that?”
