The Los Angeles Rams will place wide receiver Puka Nacua on injured reserve with a right knee injury, head coach Sean McVay said Monday.

Nacua, a second-year receiver, will miss at least four weeks before he is eligible to return.

He was injured during the Rams’ 26-20 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Nacua left the game after he made a catch in the second quarter, limping off the field. He returned briefly before he was sidelined for good, not appearing in the second half.

McVay said Monday the injury is a right posterior cruciate ligament sprain. It is an aggravation of an injury Nacua had during the offseason, ESPN reported.

Nacua, 23, caught four passes for 35 yards before he left Sunday’s game.

In his rookie season, he became a favorite target for Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, catching 105 passes for 1,486 yards — both NFL rookie records — and six touchdowns. During Los Angeles’ playoff loss to the Lions, he recorded 181 yards receiving — also an NFL rookie record — on nine catches, scoring a touchdown.

Nacua joins three offensive linemen and defensive back Cobie Durant as Rams on the injury report after Week 1.
