Erika Jayne is keeping her boyfriend, John “Shrek” McPhee, away from her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costars — for now.
“No one’s met him, and I kind of like it like that because I like him, and I know how bad these things are for your relationship,” Jayne, 54, exclusively shared with Us Weekly while promoting season 15 of Bravo’s hit reality show on Thursday, December 18. “Like, I’ve gone through too much on this. Like, I think I need, you know, I would like to keep that relationship special and over here if I could.”
Jayne first joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ahead of season 6 in 2015. While cameras captured her marriage — and subsequent divorce — from Tom Girardi, the Bravo star is choosing to keep her latest romance much closer to the vest.
“He’s never seen the show, doesn’t know anything about it,” Jayne said about McPhee. “We didn’t know we were going to get manicures and pedicures. Like, this was not part of the plan.”
Back in July, Jayne was photographed holding hands with McPhee before visiting a nail salon. The pair have yet to walk a red carpet together or go Instagram official.
While previews for season 15 show McPhee making a brief appearance on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it may only be via FaceTime.
During Thursday’s episode, some of Jayne’s single costars participated in a speed dating exercise. The “xxpen$ive” singer said she met McPhee in a totally different way.
“I was in London performing at the Mighty Hoopla [music festival], and he was there with his friend Spencer Pratt, and I’d seen John on these two podcasts,” Jayne revealed to Us. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’s that guy. I’m gonna walk up and say hello,’ and that’s exactly what I did. See, that’s why I can’t speed date.”
Jayne joked she was grateful McPhee met her in “full costume” while she was working “so we don’t have to spring that on him at a later date.”
Although their relationship is long distance, Jayne revealed that they plan to spend the holidays together.
“I’m 54 years old. That’s fine. Space is OK,” Jayne said before admitting she’s not looking towards the next milestone in her relationship. “Let’s just be responsible spending the holidays together.”
As Jayne prepares for a busy 2026 with new episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and more opportunities to perform, the “Dominoes” artist feels grateful to have met a special someone.
“He’s a normal, regular person, and does not live in Los Angeles,” she said. “I like people who are confident and intelligent. I was married to somebody who was really good at their job for a long time, and then obviously ended in a really bad way. … I need to feel comfortable. I need to feel calm. This person is calm and this person is centered.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Bravo Thursdays at 8 p.m. E.T. Stream new episodes the next day on Peacock.
