‘Bachelorette’ Alum Garrett Yrigoyen’s Wife Alex Is Pregnant With Their 1st Baby: We’re ‘Really Excited’ (Exclusive)

Garrett Yrigoyen is going to be a dad! The Bachelorette alum’s wife, Alex Yrigoyen, is pregnant with their first baby, Us Weekly can exclusively reveal.

Alex exclusively told Us that she found out about the pregnancy while Garrett, 35, was at work. “I was home for a couple of days just holding the secret in myself,” she recalled. “I didn’t know if it was real. I was, like, cautiously optimistic.”

Once Garrett, who is a firefighter, returned home from his shift, Alex surprised him with “candles lit” to set the mood and tell him her good news.

“I wrote a little card and shared the news just with him, and then we were both really excited,” Alex said, noting they “kept it to ourselves for a while.”

Garrett, whom fans met during his time on The Bachelorette in 2018, recalled being “super stoked” when he learned he is going to be a father.

“Immediately I got super giddy. I was pumped up,” he gushed. “She ran over, and she’s like, ‘Oh, my God, can you believe it?’ I was like, ‘No way,’ because I was thinking, like, that happened so fast.” (The pair revealed that Alex found out she is expecting during the summer of 2024 and was 16 weeks when she spoke with Us in mid-December.)

The twosome decided to hold off telling their families until they saw them in person over the holiday season. Garrett’s parents were first, receiving Christmas ornaments on Thanksgiving that revealed their grandchild is due in June 2025. Alex’s family received the happy news over Christmas as the couple reunited with them in San Diego for a week.

While Garrett and Alex have had time to process her pregnancy, they aren’t planning to find out the sex of the baby. “We feel like there’s only a little bit of surprises that you can get in life. So we’re going to wait till the end,” Garrett told Us.

The mom-to-be agreed, saying, “We want to share that moment [between] just us two. So we’re gonna wait till the day he or she comes, either way, boy or girl.”

Garrett noted that he doesn’t have a preference on sex as long as he can teach his child to fish. “I’m just hopeful to have a little fishing buddy, boy or girl,” he revealed. “Someone to go out adventuring with us, traveling around the world together. I need somebody out there fishing with me.”

Garrett gained fame when he won Bachelorette Becca Kufrin’s final rose during season 14 of the ABC dating series in 2018. The pair got engaged during the season finale, but she announced their split in September 2020.

Kufrin, 34, found love with Thomas Jacobs after meeting on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise. The couple got married in October 2023 after welcoming their son, Benson, one month prior.

Garrett, meanwhile, moved on with Alex in fall 2020. The pair went public with their romance that October and got engaged two years later.

The pair said “I do” in November 2023 on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. “Forever till the end of time … what a magic moment and the most perfect day,” Garrett wrote via Instagram at the time. “I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful bride and now wife.”

One year later, as the couple are preparing to become parents, they couldn’t be happier. “I can’t wait to see her as a mom, and I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun together,” Garrett told Us of his spouse. “She’s gonna pass on all of her smarts and her athleticism and everything like that, just adventuring around.”

Alex added that she knows Garrett is “going to be amazing” as a dad, especially since he’s been “talking about it for so long.” She gushed, “Seeing him light up every time we talk about things is definitely giving me so much faith that he’s going to be an amazing father.”
