Big Brother’s Matt Hardeman and Makensy Manbeck have officially called it quits.
Makensy, 23, confirmed the couple’s break up via Instagram Story post on Friday, October 17.
“I want to be very open with y’all, just as I’ve been over the past year while sharing my life. Matt and I are no longer together. And I want to make it 100% clear, no one cheated. We are normal people who spent great time together that sadly came to an end,” she wrote.
As well as insisting there was no infidelity to blame, Makensy assured her followers that her feelings for Matt, 26, were real throughout their romance.
“I loved Matt very much, and I still do. He is a big part of my life. I am truly grateful that God crossed our paths, even if it wasn’t for forever. I know many of you were invested in us, and I can’t thank you enough for your support through the past year,” the reality TV alum continued.
Makensy asked for kindness as she prepares to navigate the next stage of her life following the split and attempts to heal from the pain.
“All I ask moving forward is that you continue to support and please be kind. I loved him and our relationship deeply, and this will be a long road of healing for me. I will do my best to stay present with y’all through it all though,” she said.
Concluding the post, Makensy wrote, “Thank you for your understanding and for always supporting me. Love y’all.”
Makensy and Matt first connected inside the Season 26 Big Brother house before hard-launching their relationship via social media in December 2024.
Posting to her Instagram, Makensy shared a loved-up photo of Matt kissing her cheek and publicly confirmed the pair were an item.
“In case the soft launches weren’t enough, here’s a hard launch☺️🫶🏼” she captioned the post.
The following month, Makensy exclusively shared an update on their relationship during an interview with Us Weekly.
“Matt’s in Atlanta and I am moving to Atlanta,” Makensy told Us in January. “I’m so, so excited. A lot of people are like, ‘Why didn’t you drag him to Texas?’ I’m like, ‘Well guys, I really like Atlanta.’ I actually grew up here for 10 years so I really like it here. I love the community that he’s built here and I think it’s just time for me to have a little change and I want to be close to him.”
Makensy also shared how she and Matt had bonded over common interests and values, including their shared faith.
“I think that’s one of my favorite things about Matt is that he has such a love for the Lord and he just uses that and instills it in himself,” Makensy shared. “I think a lot of those qualities show throughout our relationship. The number one is love.”
In the same interview, Matt shared that he was initially worried his relationship with Makensy would survive outside the Big Brother house.
“Out of the house, I would say I didn’t know where we were going to be at,” Matt told Us. “I also didn’t know to what extent and readiness Makensy was going to be after an experience like that.”
